More people!?!?!

Well if you haven't received an email from me about hotel reservations shoot me an email and I will get that out to you. We are staying at the DoubleTree in downtown Buffalo. I would like to get about 18 more people so we have a full bus going up otherwise it is not economical to get a bus.

Ticket prices are finally dropping on some of the broker sites so I keep holding out. On top of that, the NHL is suppose to release more seats sometime after today based on previous reports about Sabre STH requests.

I have been busy at work and have not had much time to finish some stuff so when I get a chance I will get party info out.

The smoke has settled!!!

Well, 24 hours later I am still mad/disappointed I didn't get a ticket to this game....yet! I still plan on going up for the 3 day trip. It is going to be harder now in my mind because many of you that said you were planning on coming on the trip did not get tickets. So the economics of the whole thing just might not be viable.

If you are interested in joining us it is not too late!!!!! Please just email me.

I still think this will be fun regardless if I make it into the stadium. I will be looking for new avenues to purchase tickets and still keep with the planning of the New Years Eve party, tailgate, hotel, and bus so please don't feel like this is dead issue.

Talk to you all soon

New Info

Tickets for the AMP Energy NHL Winter Classic featuring the Penguins and Buffalo Sabres in an outdoor game in Buffalo are no longer available after about 41,000 tickets sold within 30 minutes this morning, according to Sabres spokesman Mike Gilbert.
The Buffalo Bills' Ralph Wilson Stadium, site of the Jan. 1 outdoor game, will seat a little less than 74,000 for the hockey game, but Gilbert said more than 30,000 seats are on hold for Sabres season ticket holders, Bills club seat members and for the NHL.
Those ticket holders can opt out, but If any of those seats become available for sale, it won't be for some time, Gilbert said.
Phone lines at the Sabres offices have been jammed all day. Gilbert said he was unaware of complaints by some Penguins fans that tickets were scooped up by scalpers because there was no limit on the number individuals could buy. They were sold online and at the stadium.
A check of online market eBay and StubHub at mid-day showed dozens of entries for tickets to the game, including one set of four seats listed for $1,799.

Lets hope they make some available to season ticket holders in Pittsburgh who were beat to the punch by season ticket holders in Toronto!!!! I think I am done posting today my head hurts from tryin to figure out how/why the NHL/Ticketmaster operate together

First Shut-out of the season

So I would really like to know how many penguin fans got a ticket to the game? I signed onto the worst ticketing site (Ticketmaster) at 9:45 hit refresh till 10am and by 10:01 I could not get a seat. All awhile my buddy is accessing multiple ticket choices. I don't know why the sabres/NHL did not have a season ticket holder pre-sale. For some reason the maple leafs and blue jays season ticket holders were allowed to buy them. The password they gave out did absolutely nothing. I called every number and by 10:15 they were telling me no more tickets would be sold.

I am very frustrated/mad/fill in the blank and can not think of anything else to say today so don't expect anything. If anyone has about 150 extra tickets let me know I'll take as many as i can get.

Done deal as stated before

This was posted on SI.com today and hopefully will re-assure people that don't seem to think this is going to happen.

ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. (AP) -- Winter, Buffalo and Penguins. It's a perfect combination for an outdoor NHL game.
The league is set to announce monday september 17th at 2pm that the Sabres will host the Pittsburgh Penguins in an outdoor game at Ralph Wilson Stadium on Jan. 1, a person familiar with the event told The Associated Press.
The person spoke on condition of anonymity because the NHL has not made the announcement official. The NHL issued a release Thursday saying it will "make a major announcement concerning a special event" during a press conference at the stadium on Monday.
Several media outlets, including The Buffalo News, cited unidentified sources in reporting the planned outdoor game earlier this month.
It will be the league's second outdoor game after the Canadiens beat the Oilers 4-3 in front of 57,167 fans at Edmonton's Commonwealth Stadium on Nov. 22, 2003.
Ralph Wilson Stadium is home to the NFL Buffalo Bills and has a capacity of 73,967 seats for football games.
The game will cap a home-at-home series between the two Eastern Conference rivals after Buffalo plays at Pittsburgh on Dec. 29.
Buffalo is considered an ideal location to host the game, and not only because of its reputation for cold, bitter winters. The Sabres' attendance has risen dramatically: last season's President's Trophy-winning team sold out all of its 41 regular-season games.
Buffalo also has the potential to draw many fans from the region, the city located just across the border from Ontario, and 90 minutes from Toronto. It's also an easy drive for Penguins fans, with Pittsburgh only a 31/2 drive south of Buffalo.
Sabres players, reporting for the start of training camp Thursday, were informed by the team not to comment about the nature of the NHL announcement.
